Absinthe: Pick Your Poison.

The cold winter months have lured me to try something new: Absinthe.

I went for the good stuff. Lucid Absinth. $45 a bottle.

Now I don’t really like the taste of licorice so my first impressions weren’t all that great. But with a little tonic water, it’s really not that bad. Sort of tastes like the old “Good and Plenty” candy.

I actually liked to cook with it better. Sprinkle it on roast chicken with fennel and add some more and flambe it right before service for the dramatic flare. So good.
